Eighth European Pesticide Residue Workshop EPRW 2010 was held in Strasbourg in the period between 20th and 24th June 2010. EPRW is the premier European meeting for the presentation of and discussion about the latest concepts and developments in the field of pesticide residues in food and drink.

Eighth European Pesticide Residue Workshop EPRW 2010 was held in Strasbourg in the period between 20th and 24th June 2010. EPRW is the premier European meeting for the presentation of and discussion about the latest concepts and developments in the field of pesticide residues in food and drink.

The objective of the workshop is to exchange information and experience and bring together experts from different pesticide residue fields: analytical chemists, quality managers, pesticide regulators and other scientists.

Over 550 participants from all over the world took part in the workshop (Europe, North and South America, Asia and Australia), from representatives of commercial and state laboratories, public authorities, regulatory and accreditation bodies to representatives of food producers, distributors and big sale chains.

Workshop programme enabled wide ranging exchange of information by means of plenary lectures by renowned experts in pesticide analytics, legislators, risk assessment and presentation of producers, and oral and poster presentations with over 170 papers that were presented.

Main topics of the workshop were as follows:
- sampling and preparation of samples, simplification of clean-up procedure,
- trends in analytical techniques and methodology (application of Tandem-MS and TOF-MS, High Resolution HPLC (UPLC), etc.),
- quality assurance (QA/QC) / accreditation,
- regulatory issues / harmonised European MRLs,
- pesticide residue monitoring (concepts / results), multiple residue presence risk assessment,
- dietary intakes and consumer risk assessments.

Renowned equipment manufacturers presented their achievements during the workshop by presenting instrumental equipment, devices for automatic sample extraction and clean-up that are adapted to the analyses of pesticides, reference materials and pesticide standards.

The following participants from the Republic of Serbia participated therein: Redžepović Azra (Accreditation Board of Serbia), Dr Raičević Smiljana (Food Testing Centre, Belgrade), Dr Mojašević Milica and Špirović Bojana (Faculty of Agriculture, Zemun), Marošanović Biljana and Pandurević Maja (SP laboratory - Bečej), and Vasiljević Isidora and Dr Pucarević Mira (A BIO TECH LAB - Sremska Kamenica).

The next European Pesticide Residue Workshop will be held in Vienna in 2012.
