Free movement of goods in EU and EFTA countries– New legal framework

30th September 2008 - The Ministry of Economy and Regional Development organised a seminar on the subject of “Free movement of goods in EU and EFTA countries – new legal framework” in Belgrade, Palace of Serbia, on 23.09.2008. It was held in cooperation with the Regional Quality Infrastructure Project CARDS 2006 and within technical assistance of the European Commission and EFTA Secretariat.

 

Jelena Popović, an Assistant Minister of Economy and Regional Development, opened the seminar and gave the opening address. The opening address was also given by David Norris, the Team Leader of the Regional Quality Infrastructure Project and Primož Vehar, the Team Leader of the PLAC (Policy and Legal Advice Centre) Project.

Seminar participants were the representatives of the ministries, quality infrastructure organisations, conformity assessment bodies, Serbian Chamber of Commerce and other parties interested in the Technical Regulation of the Republic of Serbia.

The following presentations were given at the seminar:
1. Single market expanding – Steffen Erik Milner, EFTA Goods Division
2. Free movement of goods in an unharmonised area and the Regulation on Mutual Recognition – Idaira Robayna Alfonso, European Commission – Directorate General for Enterprise and Industry
3. Free movement of goods in a unharmonised area and Review of the New Approach – Helen Sutcliffe, European Commission – Directorate General for Enterprise and Industry.

The following representatives of the Accreditation Board of Serbia attended the seminar: Dr Dejan Krnjaić, Vida Živković, MSc, Biljana Tomić, and Radivoje Nikoličić.
