Work on the new Law on Accreditation started

The first meeting of the Working Group in charge of the drafting of the new Law on Accreditation was held on 9th November 2009 at the premises of the Accreditation Board of Serbia.

The meeting was attended by: Jelena Popović, Assistant Minister, Department for Quality Infrastructure, Ministry of Economy and Regional Development (MERD), Kosa Rašković, MSc, Head of the Department for Quality Infrastructure, MERD, Nikola Mirković, MERD Independent Adviser, Vitomir Fister, expert on the EU project entitled “Technical Assistance to Institutions of Quality Infrastructure in the Republic of Serbia”, and the following representatives of the Accreditation Board of Serbia: Dejan Krnjaić, PhD, Director, and Biljana Tomić, Head of the Division for Legal and General Affairs.

Working group methods and timeframe were discussed, while the key issues pertaining to the drafting of the law were identified. It was agreed that the first draft of the Law would be completed by mid December, when it would be sent to the extended working group for comment and harmonisation.

It was envisaged that the Government of the Republic of Serbia was going to adopt the Bill during the 2010 and then submitted to Parliamentary scrutiny.
