EA CC Training in ISO/IEC 17024:2012
NoticesThe training in ISO/IEC 17024:2012 was delivered by the European co-operation for Accreditation (EA) i.e. the Certification Committee.
The training was delivered to two groups in September and October 2012 by the SWEDAC and DAkkS colleagues at the premises of the Italian Accreditation Body (ACCREDIA) in Milan, Italy.
It was organised as a workshop during which the differences between the previous and the current edition of ISO/IEC 17024:2012 were explained in detail. The main differences include the following:
- current edition included the part related to development and maintenance of certification schemes;
- all elements of the IAF GD 24:2009 Guidance are included in the current edition of the standard;
- the standard now has the structure of other standards from ISO/IEC 17000series;
- principles of ISO/PAS 17001 related to independence, confidentiality, complains and appeals, publication of information, and the use of management system with regard to conformity assessment standards were taken into account.
The workshop also covered group work on two subjects: assessment of the content and ability of the certification scheme to fulfil the requirements of the reference standard and independence management within the certification body – accreditation body assessment aspect.
Pursuant to the Decision made this year at the IAF General Assembly meeting, the transition period for the implementation of the current edition of ISO/IEC 17024 is 3 years from the date of publication (1st July 2012). Thus, guidance document for the implementation of this standard is expected to be published in mid-2013 after it has been harmonised during IAF WG meeting.
The training was attended by Ljubica Živanić and Natalija Jovičić Zarić, ATS lead assessors in the field of assessment of certification bodies providing certification of persons.
Note: Serbian version of ISO/IEC 17024:2012 (SRPS ISO/IEC 17024:2012, Conformity assessment - General requirements for bodies operating certification of persons) was published on 24th September 2012.
