Current events

It gives us great pleasure to announce that the Association of Accredited Conformity Assessment Bodies (CABs) was established within the Serbian Chamber of Commerce (PKS) with the support of managers and experts from accredited CABs, and in cooperation with and assistance of PKS. The Board of the newly established Association will have 26 members, whereas a framework for the establishment of the Association was defined in keeping with the needs and requests of the members given that their representatives established it. The Association was established in keeping with the PKS Statute which will consequently enable the establishment of its organs.

Accredited CABs present an important factor when it comes to the development of the quality infrastructure in Serbia. The quality infrastructure develops the awareness of consumers in the process of globalisation of international economy, and it makes essential contribution to economic and social development of the country, marketing of safe products and affects innovation and competitiveness fields. Therefore, it is important to have accredited CABs competitive at the international level, hire competent experts whose knowledge and skills are internationally recognised and constantly upgraded.

PKS is an institution that managed to gather all those performing conformity assessment activities given that accredited CABs are one of the important elements of the quality infrastructure underpinning safety, security and quality of products placed on the Serbian market or intended for export.

It was possible after several years to put in place the initiative to gather accredited CABs in order to exchange experiences related to the application of new international rules in the fields of metrology, standardisation, accreditation and conformity assessment with the aim of enabling free movement of goods and removal of technical barriers to trade. The purpose of this Association is to enable accredited CABs to have a uniform approach, to identify the causes of problems and propose actions to be carried out in critical situations and to take part in drafting of the development policy in many fields. Therefore, only united CABs can achieve integration into international professional associations in order to enhance trust, reliability and competence levels.
