Celebration on the occasion of Accreditation Day in the Republic of Serbia

On June 28, 2017, the Accreditation Body of Serbia organised a celebration marking June 9 - the International Accreditation Day and June 28 - Accreditation Day in the Republic of Serbia in the ceremonial hall of the Belgrade Drama Theater in Belgrade.

The event, which is traditionally organized by the Accreditation Body of Serbia (ATS) on the day when the first accreditation was granted in the Republic of Serbia, was opened by Prof. Aco Janićijević, PhD, ATS Acting Director.

On that occasion, Mr. Janićijević said that the most important goal - the imperative of ATS - is to maintain an established and efficient accreditation system, which will enable the successful performance of the competencies of the national accreditation body. Acting Director also pointed out that ATS is able to meet the needs for accreditation of the economy in Serbia, and constantly improve the accreditation system, and successfully maintain signed multilateral agreements, within the framework of international accreditation organisations. He proudly emphasised that the quality and continuous work of the ATS and the signed EA MLA are essential preconditions for the quality infrastructure in the Republic of Serbia to be competitive and ready for partnership with the quality infrastructure institutions of the European Union and at the international level.

At the end of his address to the audience, Prof. Janićijević, PhD expressed special thanks for the fact that the lawmakers in some line ministries in Serbia understood the significance and value of accreditation and for increased referral to accreditation as the best way to evaluate the fulfillment of the prescribed requirements, and thus increased reliance on the services of accredited bodies.

The participants were also addressed by Mr. Željko Medak, Director of the Institute for Accreditation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Jovan Petrović, Assistant Minister and Director, and Miloš Jelić, President of the Accreditation Council.

This year's International Day of Accreditation had the motto which was: "Delivering confidence in construction and the built environment ". The participants of the celebration had the opportunity to watch the promotional film that had been made on this occasion.
