The first presentation entitled “ATS Operation, structure and status in the Republic of Serbia, Europe and world 15 years after the first accreditation” was given by Radivoje Nikoličić, Assistant Director of Development and Quality. He explained on this occasion the importance and structure of quality infrastructure in the Republic of Serbia and international setting, including the accreditation procedure. This was also an opportunity to look back at the history of ATS (including JUAT/ATSCG) and its status in international organisations for accreditation (EA, ILAC, IAF). Furthermore, planned 2015 activities of ATS were presented, while the most important 2015 objective of ATS is successful maintenance of the signed multilateral agreements (EA MLA, ILAC MRA and IAF MLA), and further improvement of cooperation with all the respective Serbian ministries and other interested parties, continual upgrade of the accreditation system, and further development of new accreditation fields.

Vladimir Vukašinović, Director of the Akcionarsko društvo za ispitivanje kvaliteta “Kvalitet”, gave a presentation on the subject of “The importance of accreditation as regards the upgrade of business possibilities”, when he tackled the accreditation benefits that this company of 9 accredited laboratories had experienced (in field of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), equipment safety testing (LVD), tool testing (MD) and testing of gas appliances) and how the accreditation awarded by ATS enabled this company to upgrade its operation and position in the market. He pointed out that the symbol of accreditation, for the use of which ATS gives permission to accredited conformity (CABs) to indicate their accreditation status and that is used by CABs in their reports and certificates, is a guarantee to exporters who place products on foreign markets since ATS is a signatory of multilateral agreements. Akcionarsko društvo za ispitivanje kvaliteta “Kvalitet” cooperates with other accredited CABs which also enables them to develop and improve their work.

A round-table dicussion on the subject of “The role and the importance of accreditation to economic development” was held after the first part of the meeting during which the business community and accredited CABs from the RPK Niš territory had an opportunity to ask questions related to their everyday work and development of their business possibilities, but it was also pointed out that ATS needed experts in economy with relevant competence and work experience. It was stressed during the round-table discussion that it was necessary for all quality infrastructure institutions to continue to improve their mutual cooperation and given that accredited CABs also have to cooperate with these institutions.
