International Accreditation Organizations– International Accreditation Forum (IAF)  and International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC),  as every year on June 9, 2021, mark World Accreditation Day globally to better inform the public about the importance and value of accreditation.

This year’s theme of the World Accreditation Day for 2021 is: Supporting the Implementation of the SDGs.

The Sustainable Development Goals (https://www.rs.und) represent a bluprint for achieving better and more sustainable future. They address global challenges, including poverty, inequality, climate change and environmental degradation and justice.

The joint statement issued by  IAF and ILAC chairmen alludes to maintaining a close strategic partnership and technical cooperation with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) because they recognize the important role that accreditation plays in achieving sustainable development and its impact on industrial development and economic growth.

The joint statement of the chairs also emphasizes the importance of accreditation as a key cornerstone in support of the goals of sustainable development and three interrelated thematic priorities: creating common prosperity, improving economic competitiveness and protecting the environment.

ILAC and IAF have issued a brochure(https://ilac.org/?ddownload=123742) i poster (https://ilac.org/?ddownload=123727) highlighting positive examples of the role and importance of accreditation in implementing sustainable development goals.
